About the Clinical Data Manager Role

The Clinical Data Manager will oversee the collection, processing, cleaning and management of clinical trial data.

The position is responsible for ensuring that clinical data is accurate, complete and verifiable according to study protocols, regulatory requirements and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.

The role involves collaboration with clinical, regulatory, biostatistics, safety teams, CROs, EDC vendors and central laboratories.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Data Management

  • Develop and maintain Data Management Plans (DMPs).
  • Prepare data validation specifications and other study-related documentation.
  • Design and review CRFs/eCRFs with clinical teams and vendors.
  • Perform and review data cleaning activities.
  • Generate and resolve clinical data queries.
  • Support issue resolution and data quality activities.
  • Ensure timely database lock and delivery of clinical data.

EDC Systems

The Clinical Data Manager will support the setup, validation and maintenance of electronic data capture systems, including:

  • Medidata Rave
  • Oracle InForm
  • Veeva
  • REDCap

Experience with EDC systems is an important requirement for this position.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with CROs, EDC vendors and central laboratories.
  • Work with clinical, regulatory, biostatistics and pharmacovigilance/safety teams.
  • Participate in study team meetings.
  • Contribute to project timelines and risk management.
  • Ensure data deliverables remain aligned with study requirements.

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Follow FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and ICH-GCP requirements.
  • Participate in audits and data review meetings.
  • Support internal quality checks.
  • Maintain complete documentation for inspection readiness.

Educational Qualification

Required

Bachelor’s degree in any of the following or a related discipline:

  • Life Sciences
  • Health Information Management
  • Computer Science
  • Related field

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Life Sciences
  • Master’s degree in Health Information Management
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science
  • Related discipline

Experience Required

Candidates should have approximately 4–6 years of experience in Clinical Data Management.

Experience in the following industries is preferred:

  • Pharmaceutical
  • Contract Research Organization (CRO)
  • Biotechnology

Prior experience with EDC systems and CDISC standards is also preferred.
